Steve Hargreaves was a founding member of the Bushrats in their inaugural 1995 season and captained the club to its first premiership in 1996. Beyond his achievements on the field, he played a vital role in coaching, mentoring young players and helping shape the culture and identity of the club during its early years.![]()

Each year, the Bushrats and Parkwood Sharks compete for the Steve Hargreaves Cup, a match that honours the club’s proud history and the values Hargreaves helped establish. While humbled to have the trophy bear his name, Hargreaves is quick to credit the many volunteers, players and community members who built the Bushrats together, saying the club has always been about bringing people from all walks of life together through rugby league.![]()
